Thermoplastic and elastomeric insulation and sheath exposed to heat are subjected to many types of physical and chemical changes. The severity of exposures, in both time and temperature, determines the extent and type of change that takes place. The ageing makes an assessment of change in properties of materials on subjecting them to ageing in air. Such type of ageing does not predict the thermal ageing characteristics together with interaction of mechanical and electrical stresses, environmental ageing.Apparatus consists of following:
A single unit comprises of heating chamber and control console. Internal dimension of chamber are 18” x 18” x 18”. Chamber fabricated in stainless steel sheet with perforated trays. Coil type heaters are placed around the chamber. Temperature controlled by Digit Controller PID with RTD sensor with load & line indicator. Assembled in mild steel cabinet painted with attractive powder coated paint, fine fiber glass wool is used as heat insulator between the chamber and cabinet.
